Pros
I met some wonderful coworkers who have turned into friends!
Cons
TransPerfect fully expects for employees to give up their lives for the company. The BARE MINIMUM expectation is a 9+ hour day, and you are judged if you leave at the 9 hour mark. With a promise of fortune, they try to convince you that long hours, not taking your full lunch break, not getting out of your seat for 11+ hours a day is worth it and even try to convince you that "everywhere is like this!". There is a difference between high expectations of working hard, and abuse. The office "culture" is dead silent all day long, and you are spoken to if you talk too much and there is too much conversation throughout the day. The pay/promotion structure at TPT is structured exactly like a pyramid scheme. At the bottom of the pyramid, you have the exact same expectations as everyone else, but you are only making a tiny base salary and zero commission. At the next level of the pyramid, you are making a tiny base salary + a tiny commission. However, most of the money is still funneling to your boss. It isn't until the next level of the pyramid that you can actually make any money from the work that you do. The promise that at TPT, everyone can make endless amounts of money is just not the case. The opportunity to make that money does exist, but be prepared to truly sacrifice your entire life.
