Pros
I've been with the company 6 months and I want to publicly thank TransPerfect for giving me the best job I've ever had. I currently work here and couldn't be happier. Before I accepted my position, I read the reviews on this site. To those who commented negatively, I don't know how your time was spent at TransPerfect, so I can't argue your postings. What I can say, however, is that I feel truly lucky to be a part of this company. If you are reading this post, and thinking about joining the company, don't give all your attention to the negative responses. Please read mine too. First thing's first, to work at TransPerfect, you have to work really hard...there's no question about it. At the very least, I work from 8:30AM to 6:30PM everyday. And for a majority of that time, I'm busy. In fact, "swamped" would be a better way to categorize it. But I love the feeling of being nearly overwhelmed. I work with numerous people that rely on me to do my part to ensure the company's success. I appreciate the responsibility I've been given and feel proud to be involved in so many major projects. You have to work hard here because your boss will absolutely put their trust in you. Let me be frank, this is not a company for those that need their hand held or require a lot of supervision or motivation. Almost from day 1, my boss has relied on me to make things happen. He gives me enough freedom to run my own show, but he keeps an eye out for when I make a mistake and is ALWAYS there when I have a question. Further, and this is why my job is really great, my boss knows my department inside and out. He worked his way up through the ranks and it shows. I respect my boss more than I can say and I consider myself lucky to learn from him everyday. He's a real standup guy and it makes me work harder to keep things running smoothly for him. Lastly, the people I work with inspire me to push myself. TransPerfect is flooded with talent, vigor, and ambition. As I said, at minimum I work 9 hours a day, and a lot of the time I pull 11 and 12 hour days, but I can virtually guarantee you that there will always be someone at their desk when I leave. If you work here, you get to sit beside people who want the responsibility of a project's success put on their shoulders. For me, this is a huge motivator and it makes me push my boundaries, expand my talents, and meet goals that exceed what I ever thought possible. I love my job.
Cons
I wish I was paid a bit more, but it seems like the company promotes from within:)
