Pros
I work with amazing people. The team that we have had over the years has been strong and fun to work with. We all have a passion for helping customers reach their health and wellness goals and we have a great time doing it. I love that we price our products lower than many of our competitors. It feels good when a customer comes in for the first time just to comparison shop and they walk out with an arm full of product having saved a ton of money. I am grateful for the knowledge that I have gained from the training program as well as from our customer base. This company has all of the ingredients it needs to be very very successful.
Cons
The follow through is poor at the corporate level. They discourage communication with Senior Management and do not treat Managers, Assistant Managers, or Health Enthusiasts with respect or common courtesy. There is a 'goal', and I use that term loosely, of 100% internal promotion BUT it is a joke at best. They would much rather hire their friends from either Barnes and Noble or Petsmart. If you are someone who knows an Executive from the Vitamin Shoppe because you once worked with them at one of these two places, you are a shoe in. The expectation at the store level is that you have perfect execution of any programs implemented but the execution at the corporate level leaves something to be desired. I am afraid that this company has lost it's way. The potential is there, but they have started down a path that is going to lead them into chaos.
