Pros

Travelling non stop three times a week with 300-400 passengers each way/flight. They are all tired, hungry, thirsty and they behave in a manner very similar to the closest species to humans most of the time.

Cons

No sleep. No family. No brain to remember what you have been through except for photos. It is amazing fir two years max. company treats its staff like property. Forget you are human.

Politically Demographic

Pros

Tax free salary. Full medical cover. Childrens private education.

Cons

Engineering still lagging 10 years behind some of the top European airlines. Some senior management and executives have no clue or understanding of the running of the Engineering operations. Very political and dependant on the your senior managers and his ethnicity. You have to be the blue eyed boy to get rewarded. Hardworking productive personel are heavily relied on to ensure smooth operation and given double work to the blue eyec or non productive staff. Human factors totally in disregard. The local senior executive is easily swayed by his subordinates and can make life a misery for you. Covid redundancies in 2020 was based on demographics and if the face fits. Not on skills, qualifications and experience. 20 plus years of productive employment and no gratitude shown whatsoever. The company and the country is purely a means. Means to earn good salary and provide good living and education for the children. But you have to be strong willed and with perseverance. Otherwise the department can run you down and out.

Golden handcuffs and obsession with European passports

Pros

ticket benefits - annual leave tickets (with upgrade to business class), discounted tickets for self, immediate and extended family & friends Good educational benefits on reimbursement basis for up to 3 children

Cons

Very difficult to get promoted from one grade to next - most wait for years. Internal vacancy's interview process is more of a façade (the person would already been have pre-selected by the department's hiring manager) Very little increment per year (only around aed 300 per year) Performance bonus is almost never dispersed stating silly reasons Obsession with individuals holding European passports. Discriminatory salaries on the same role & grade depending on nationality in passport Pays obnoxiously high for lateral entrants with European passports and does not value & respect existing loyal employees enough to promote them to the same role instead of hiring externally Incompetency is celebrated if you are a european passport holder
