      Pros

      The best reasons would have been the empowerment of part time employees, the scheduling, the relationship between full time, managers, and part time employees. But that was the old Container Store.

      Cons

      I've been working for the container store for years and make a good wage and now with the economy the way it is, I barely get hours (6 a week between 2 days). There is a lot of shady meetings that the full timers have; especially the "store managers" that feel it's appropriate to have a "one on one" meeting on a weekend day. The trust I had with the managers is all but gone from helping out way too many times only to have the negatives of my performance be the only thing that sticks in their heads.

      Pros

      TCS has a tremendous heart. We truly want to do the right thing for our customers and our co-workers. I've never worked with such a great team. They make coming to work a joy.

      Cons

      Between growing pains and the economy, TCS is experiencing a disconnect between the foundation principles we all believe in and reality. The time has come to take away the rosy glasses and have some honest dialogue about what needs to be improved. No one is honest about what the difficulties are. They grumble amongst themselves then present a shiny smile to the people who need to hear it. It is career suicide to point out any flaws in TCS.

      Pros

      You get the chance to work with wonderful people. Most stores have a diverse staff including previous professionals, executives, artist, teachers etc. You have such a great opportunity to learn from your co workers and that's what makes going to work fun. There are also so great customers that really understand and appreciate what the employees do at the container store.

      Cons

      Management has decided to address current needs to control cost in a dishonest and morale crushing method. Instead of making a decision to lay people off and control payroll expense management has decided to target full time and part time employees based on the compensation and either making life so miserable that some are leaving or for those that havent' been able to find another job yet they are giving very vague performance reviews and and giving constant feedback that no matter what you do it's not good enough. Most of these folks are long term employees that as recently as last year have had constant good reviews and salary increases. It;'s sad that we just can't be honest and do a lay off, control cost and make it possible for the employees to look for jobs as an layed off employee and qualify for unemployement until they find a new job.
