Pros

Employee discount. Extensive training which allows you to learn many new things. A few really awesome trainers who travel to New store openings.

Cons

Poor upper management, always in the backroom and hardly ever on the sales floor. Extremely limited payroll so every employee is stretched thin and frustrated. Customers complain daily for having to wait in long lines because of minimal floor coverage. Little to no room to advance in the company. Managers do not trust employees to make educated decisions. Turnover is the highest I've ever seen in any retail chain especially with part timers. They are expected to know just as much as Full timers but scheduled 2 days a week if lucky (1 of which is a truck shift). Truck shifts are never fully staffed, employees are overworked and frustrated.

Pros

Great discount, fun store, cool products. Decent benefits even for part-time.

Cons

New store, enormous training but not on the right things. Too much corporate Kool-Aid then the store opens and everyone gets their hours cut. Apparently, they needed a lot of employees for the grand opening but that was it. Everyone had to "work" the opening party but we were not paid and we were supposed to feel happy that we were invited because we got free food. Weird shifts, no consistency in putting schedules out, some management was too new to know what was going on, and lots of pettiness and gossip from a few of the full-timers. Just hype to get folks to sign on to be "prime-time" which just means part-time. Corporate folks claim they have never had lay-offs but all they really do is cut the hours until people quit. Enormous push to have everyone sign up their email accounts.

Pros

I loved my co-workers. Just really cool people. I enjoyed the work, especially the physical aspects of it--climbing around in the stock room and moving things around for visual sales.

Cons

I'm not sure why we had managers and full-timers at all. They spent the entire day in the break room chatting and drinking coffee. If you asked them to help out, even in the holiday season when the store was packed, they'd give you stick, tell you to get back to work and go back to their conversation. Management and full-time choose new full-timers, and no matter what they tell you they don't promote from within. If you ask about promotion more than once, they cut your hours so they don't have to fire you and pay unemployment. It's a cult. It really is. They put you in situations (overnights are the big one) where you form an unusually close bond with your co-workers and then punish you for stepping out of line by upbraiding you in front of your friends. If you don't toe the line, they cut your hours so that you can't see those new friends anymore.
