Pros

-Everyone very dedicated to Teach For America's mission and core values -Lots of smart, hard-working people -Opportunities for growth as the organization changes

Cons

-A lot of face time can be expected - at times working longer is prized over working harder or smarter -Top leaders can ignore the "little people"

Pros

- Exciting, fast-paced work - Feels inspiring and relevant to what's happening in the broader world - Opportunity to have a real impact - Entrepreneurial; new ideas are welcome and you are empowered to act on them - Young, energetic, like-minded people; met some of my best friends there - Very smart, capable and committed people - Opportunity to take on increasing responsibilities relatively quickly if you prove yourself (may or may not come with actual promotion & pay increase)

Cons

- High turnover. Think it's because 1) some positions, especially on program teams, tend to burn through people due to fast-paced nature of work 2) staff is young so are moving on to grad school or other things 3) it can be hard to find routes to advancement from entry level to middle mgmt, or middle to to sr mgmt. - Very intense and driven org, sets ambitious goals, sometimes biting off more than it can chew then everyone rallies and usually pulls it off, but can be exhausting and unsustainable. (that culture has been to success so far, but has its costs) - B/c staff are so young, even sr mgrs are sometimes inexperienced mgrs. Totally depends on your mgr and team, but in my experience mgrs are very smart, but don't expect a lot of hands on coaching, development, mentorship, etc.
