Pros

Great team spirit. Growth potential is there. You can have the opportunity to oversee operations and budgets for $20 - $50million + revenue stores. Lead a staff of executive managers with an extended staff of 300 +. Various executive managment positions.

Cons

Dealing with the public. You either have it, or you don't. You will work weekends and holidays.

Pros

Target is a large growing Retailer in America, they have devoted resources in product development and marketing that make Target ' fashionable and ' in ' . They have attempted to develop systems to make their operations functional by using labor resources to help meet the demand in their stores. Unfortunately the model seems to breakdown . They never schedule enough resources in the departments to adequately meet the needs of their customers . Advancement is possible through the growth of the number of stores and the flux of people that is to be somewhat expected in retail - but i noticed that the Nordstrum reviews are more good than bad -

Cons

Discount retailing in the USA is pretty tough, with Wally-world lurking and price competition coming from drug stores and grocery stores each and everyday. Under this strain the pressure is on employees to make up for the mistakes made by merchandising, store operations , and the IT system that needs updating . This past Holiday season, the electronics dept was the sales driver of the store - yet that dept was constantly undermanned . Since we were losing those sales ( people were walking out of the store ) , the store was not making budget which meant cutting back on the support help, which meant more lost sales . During some periods the help in some depts was limited to the backstock people -which drove more customers away. The systems need some updating and the training is lacking Operations management is woeful - many young kids wander around in a daze due to inexperience and unrealistic expectations of these people
