Pros

Market rate remuneration, flexible benefits, family leave/child care, medical benefits, insurance coverage for you and your family (spouse & children).

Cons

Management decision is a one direction thing, they are not much listening to feedback from the bottom line. Not much of growth in your position, no parking or meal allowance available for people that are below managers level. If you are not foreign workers, company will not be able to buy back your leave, if you are not Malaysian residing in Singapore, company will not be able to provide you hotel room to stay with monthly allowance of $600.

Pros

The company itself has a lot going for it right now and is very recognizable on the food industry. They’re growing a lot and making some smart business decisions. Symrise works with a lot of big companies so a lot of interesting projects are happening in each business unit. There are also several international training programs that are great experience if you are presented with the opportunity to participate.

Cons

Being a Lab Technician, you have the opportunity to go to Germany for Flavorist training. It sounds really great in the interview, but it is most definitely not a guarantee. You are a lab tech for 2 years minimum, but most likely longer. The lab techs don’t assist flavorists in creating formulas, do not attend any meetings, and attend minimal tastings (even if you made the flavor). Most of the time you are just making a formula and there’s very little exposure to anything else. Should you decide this is not for you, I found it difficult to change departments.
