Pros

*Some* of the people you work with are not just great people, they are good people too.

Cons

Everything else; working conditions are terrible (safety is NOT a priority), the way you are treated (you are treated worse by management/supervisors than by the most irate passengers). Many instances of not having an 11 hour gap between shifts. Managers either don’t care enough to do their job properly or don’t know how to do their job properly. A LOT of office politics. Not paid enough. You are thrown to cover airlines you haven’t been trained on. You get called to disciplinary meetings for being out sick even though you have provided a medical certificate (and you have no previous history of calling in sick). You are expected to break your back doing favours for them but they never even say as much as a thank you! There have been many instances where I wasn’t paid for days worked or overtime done. CHECK YOUR PAYSLIP CAREFULLY!!!

Pros

The people you work with make everyday fun. If your having a bad day. You go into work and they will cheer you up. Rosters are very flexible especially at the moment as there is no set roster. You can swap shifts and management do try their best to accommodate to your needs as much as possible. You will often be offered more hours than you are contracted for. Working for a handling agent offers you more job security than working directly for an airline. No two days are the same, like in every work place you will have good days and bad days. Some days go like clockwork, others are a disaster with delays and cancellations. However to me this makes the job more interesting. There is always opportunities to progress within your career, although the starting salary and contract isn’t the best, you will be offered lots of positions and as time goes on your pay will increase as your skillset goes up. It is a great starting point to learn all about the airport operations. You will always be offered new training opportunities on different airline systems and duties within the airport and the amount of experience you will gain is amazing compared to other customer service based jobs.

Cons

You will be expected to charge for excess/oversized baggage according to airline’s policy. Although this is part of the job, a lot of the passengens can give you a lot of verbal abuse. If you are not used to this, it will come as a challenge however you will definitely become more confident as time goes on. Dependant on the season you join, you could be thrown in at the deep end. Although this is very daunting when you start. It can be the best thing. You are not paid for your breaks. Often it can be hard to get your break as it’s too busy. Ensure you notify your supervisor if this happens as you will get it paid.

Pros

There aren't any pros with working for swissport

Cons

- absolute joke of pay ( way under the average and if you complain you are told leave and we will bring someone in on more) - no progession, again it's mentioned and you are told the only way to process is to leave -upper management have no clue what they ate doing and don't care at all about their workers - working hours are a joke with having to work past 10 a lot of times - management has its favourites and if you aren't one then you don't matter
