Pros

The discount (though the electrics discount was better in years past)

Cons

Where to begin...as someone who climbed the ranks with SLT (from seasonal sales associate to GM) over 5 years I have seen and heard it all. What is the worst about this company is that they honestly don’t care about their employees. Their HR is in place (well, I honestly don’t know why?!). Having middle-aged privileged white males in the top spots has created havoc over the last 2-ish years. Great people leaving left and right! They put more pressure on employees than any company should in such a short period of time! Clearly the business plan is “let’s install as many changes as humanly possible on Monday, and then take Tues-Fri off”. An example of how askew this company is: vendor investment in an intensive “brand training program”. Have ALL employees watch 5-30 min videos (with zero payroll assistance—-I mean they “gave” us some but who are we kidding). Then if you meet a guideline of : you’ve been with the company for 6 months, have gone thru a performance review of “solid performer”...you can become a Brand Specialist. You take a test, pass it, then meet a selling threshold. Kicker here: I tend to be a rules follower, esp when the rules are coming from a HR training group. Little did I know that the rest of the company, through a whisper on a district conference call and from my DM, “HR isn’t checking these guidelines are met”. This is just one example of how royally messed up things are at SLT. But if you fit the mold of “puppet” please feel free to apply. I’m sure you’ll do great. Also, this company does not care about their employees with health problems. They actually use their puppets to “take care of people like that”. Oh, and the pay is crap!

Sur la table corporate clearly does not care about their employees at the retail level and it shows in all of the moves they make.

Pros

Benefits and pay are descent.

Cons

Operating systems sub par. Policies change depending on supervisor and customer's willingness to escalate. Unprofessional behavior(all the way across the board from most management, store employee's and fellow CSP's all the way up to Corporate).Extreme favortism. Zero room for advancement.
