Pros

The cooking classes are first class. The customers are one of a kind and great to meet!

Cons

This company has no reality on how to hire part-time sales people for very low pay. They expect their part-time people to be available to work 30 hours per week with a minimum schedule of 6 hours per day, 5 days per week. At part time, this is unrealistic for someone to actually be able to afford to live, especially in New York. Most people would want to work for Sur La Table for the great product and especially the people they work for and the moral. If you don't have that...you have nothing! This company will be gone soon...don't waste your time with working for them!

Pros

Their concept of being Scrappy and an easy place to get all your cookware needs, plus they have cooking glasses!

Cons

Leadership in the stores are expected to run multi-million dollar businesses on zero training, no motivation and SOP's that are founded by corporate officers that have never actually never worked in the field! As previously stated, they want to have a MOD program that is similar to other retailers, yet stores never have more than 1 sales person working at a time....so who are they actually MODing? If the company can no afford to hire the right people, support the stores with appropriate payroll and training, they have not right in staying in business.

Pros

Fun environment to work in. Good product you will sell easily because you and the customers believe in the product. The employee discount is good.

Cons

A huge amount of tasking (shipment, floor sets, trainings) with no payroll to cover any of it. The company expects you to interact with every customer but also continually gives you more busy work to take you away from the customer. There is also no communication between the different corporate branches or with corporate to the stores. Changes to operations will be thrown out last minute, usually with errors.
