Pros

The customer base for this business is generally very nice and easy to help. The merchandise is for the most part high quality and includes some very fun gadgets and tools.

Cons

There are many foundational problems with this company. The upper management is very poorly run and as a result, there is little or no focus on what is important to build a team and a successful retail business. There is little or no training for management and in turn, no training available for the sales staff. Consistency is missing in procedures, scheduling and hiring. Very sad to see people hired and given promises of hours and pay only to have that not be the case. There is a high turnover at all levels for two reasons- good workers will not stay because of the poor management and too often great workers in upper positions are fired when they question the business practices. No job security and a ruthlessness about hiring and promotions. Pay is less than adequate and raises at all levels are quite insulting for the work required. Company is changing rapidly...and not for the best.

Pros

THEY'RE ARE NONE! BAD COMPANY TO WORK FOR! YOUR BETTER OFF AT K-MART!

Cons

The D.ms instruct the managers to cut hours on a daily basis. Nothing is ever stable when it come to hours. They change our schedules and never tell us. The Managers aren't allowed to call employees to inform them of the changes. We have to call on our time off to find out what we are working. This company is FAILING TO to provide advance notice to an employee of scheduling changes can be required to pay for "reporting time." Furthermore, California law imposes strict requirements on employers who adopt alternative workweek policies, and employers cannot adopt these policies without providing advance notice to their employees of their scheduling changes. THIS COMPANY IS NOT COMPLYING TO THIS LABOR LAWS WHATSOEVER. They are worried about numbers and productivity.

Pros

Employee discount is pretty decent, even if the pricing starts higher than other places. Also, it pays pretty well if you're not married or trying to start a family.

Cons

Management is never in the loop. Direction from higher up the ladder is convoluted and constantly changing to conflicting messages. There is no clear focus communicated. District level management seems to have no idea what they are doing, and in some cases brow-beat their managers so badly that I have seen a majority of them leave, one after another.
