Let me explain quickly that your experience at Starbucks will vary depending on what volume your store is, and your store manager. The SM has a huge influence over the store, and the volume of the store does also. I have worked in only high-volume stores. 60k+ a week in sales stores, and let me tell you it is so difficult. Physically and mentally it is difficult every single day. They barely staff the stores, and we can't even really add more staff because they build the stores so small you can only fit like 8 people behind the bar comfortably. They push us to the absolute limit in terms of numbers. I am in texas and the barista's aren't even paid a living wage here. Their wage is 10.50 and a living wage in texas is about 12$ an hour. Shift supervisors make 13$ and they work theyselves silly every day trying to troubleshoot the issues that arrise at a high-volume location. One person calls in and suddenly everyone is pouring sweat trying to overcompensate the already thin labor. Its honestly ridiculous how much they exploit us and covering it up with the phrase "but our benefits are great."
