Pros

It sounds cool to tell ppl you work here, and that is where the "pros" end. If you are a top tier engineer with a top education and aspiring ambitions - GO ELSEWHERE. DO NOT RUIN YOUR CAREER. ENJOY THIS COMPANY FROM A FAR AS A FAN ONLY - AT A HUGEEEE DISTANCE.

Cons

WALMART OF AEROSPACE. The company has a major cash flow issue. Be prepared to make peanuts for your salary -I've been here 3.5 years, and they have promised raises for years - that's a laugh. Also, the equity - it was not great when i first signed on, but admittedly better than my prev. company, I hear it is not less than 2% in equity - all in all -peanuts plus ""EQUITY"" that will calculate to about $20/hr after you work all those hours- like 70-80 hrs a week mandatory salaried. Awesome use of that Ivy League degree! Their rockets are priced low, which sounds great, except the slave driver heads of engineering and production force us to produce at alarming rates, turning rockets around in full completion in weeks. DO YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR FACE FIGURATIVELY PRESSED TO A GRIND STONE? YES? THEN JOIN SPACEX! The leadership team is young and inexperienced. Their recruiting team is a joke. Their university rep lies about how wonderful the company is, completely incompetent- a great reflection of the leadership team and business model, complete incompetence. It is a nightmare trying to communicate basic issues that cause setbacks. AVOID ANY ENGINEERING JOB HERE. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Pros

Left here soon enough to see why they are eternally understaffed and why this is not the place to waste my time.

Cons

If you want me as a technician to contribute ideas for improved processes and efficiency then pay me like an engineer. I don't work for free. Pay is very low here. They will pay the bare minimum they can get away with. They figure they can make up for the low pay by working you to no end. Zero work/life balance. The strategy of SpaceX is to steal ideas, pay the bare minimum, and work you until burnout so they can hire on the next batch of Musk fans. Little do these Musk fans realize that Musk has the same tendencies as Bezos does to abuse and use workers. If it weren't for the immigration requirements SpaceX would have a higher turnover than Amazon warehouses. I got very tired of hearing how brilliant some SpaceX employees are. You know what. Honestly no one cares how intelligent you are. It's your paycheck at the end of the day and it's just a job. Just glad I left here soon enough before I contributed to the company in any meaningful way while they cheat me on pay the whole time, waste half my life, and take ideas for free with zero promises of compensation in any form. The potential of an asteroid ending life on Earth doesn't make me work any harder to help with the process of enabling humans to be a multi planetary species. Because I don't want Musk's and Bezo's terrible ways of treating employees to spread to other planets.

Pros

Fun holiday party. Cool founder who is good to name-drop in business school. Cheap food, cheap t-shirts, cheap (i.e. free) coffee.

Cons

Below-market compensation and benefits package. Absolutely astronomically unthinkable expectations around becoming a slave to the office. All opportunities for outside contact and development impossible. Engineers either married and hiding at work or love their partners who see the office as the other woman. Prepare for the rest of your life to be over upon entry.
