Test Technician/ Mcgregor, tx. Spacex is like an abusive spouse. You don't leave for hopes things will get better.
Pros
Rockets are cool. Breaking records is cool. There are some very talented people to work along with. Cheap food and free chips and drinks. Coffee bar is nice. Insurance is on par with the rest of the industry. Great stepping stone for a young person to gain experience.
Cons
Overworked, underpaid. No life outside of Spacex. Mandatory overtime (minimum 50 hr work weeks, usually more) . No room for advancement if you aren't in the cool club. Everything is reactive, not proactive. Safety is only enforced at the personnel level. If it affects schedule or cost money it's not getting fixed. Very disgruntled employees that want to leave . Morale is horrible. Management doesn't want you to have a personal life or opinions. If you don't have the "Spacex is great and nothing needs changing" attitude then you are the problem. Raises SUCK!!! If you get one at all. No 401k matching. No pensions. No reason to stay after 5 years. This job is designed for young single people with no life.
