Pros

1. You are never ever going to get bored. Every day comes with new people, celebrities, actors, etc and new challenges. 2. You will enjoy food delicacies and drink varieties (mostly for free or reduced price) that others can't even afford. 3. You get to see how tough are you, mentally and physically, almost everyday :) 4. If you are at a managerial/supervisory level, you will be exercising a great deal of command and control over a large team, in some cases a staff of more than 1000. 5. There is no limit to knowledge and learning in this field. I mean so many different cuisines and cultural dishes, so many different methods/ways to prepare/present food & beverages, so many wineries and all of the wine varieties, one keeps on learning and training others, which leads to continuous enhancement of skills and expertise. 6. Travel, fun, excitement are other factors that are uniquely related to this field.

Cons

1. You never ever going to confidently confirm any non-job related commitment or social gathering. Most of your dates will be either get postponed because you got last minute call from job or will occur around your break time ;) 2. It's an ungrateful job. No matter how prepared you and your team are or how many long hours you have put in to some function/event, some last minute crash will happen and will mostly revolve around that one customer, who is the most demanding (politically correct term used for most annoying) 3. You saw that unhappy customer, whose order was returned and was given a free coupon for him and his whole neighborhood's next meal, guess who is going to pay for that :? Yea it's you and not the company. To conclude, I would say I love this field and I love what I do. Yea this field comes with great pressure and challenges, but it also comes with great work satisfaction and fun-filled opportunities. One has to learn how to keep the personal-professional life balance and be brave and tough when needed.
