Pros

Lots of free product and training on the products there. Sales bonus can be nice. If you want to learn about skincare or makeup, this should be your go-to starter job. The values at Sephora are fantastic. When they DO live, it creates a great work environment, and the cast members that we hire are fantastic. It is a family atmosphere.

Cons

Lots of glass ceilings if you are an independent thinker and innovative. Management wants yes-people, not people who come up with their own solutions to problems. They claim to support innovation, diversity, and hard work, but from what I see, promotion only happens when you play the right politics, rather than from genuine hard work. Pay is terrible compared to other cosmetics companies. Basically, people start out here, work their way up a bit and get some basic skills under their belts and network, then they leave to work for brands as an AE or freelancer making nearly twice what they did at Sephora.

Pros

They have koolaid. They tell you you're so pretty (but only when you're as pretty as everyone else). They give you free stuff, so you don't feel bad that you can't afford to buy it. You wear a uniform, so you don't have to worry about buying clothes (which is good because you can't afford them). They train you how to do someone else's makeup because makeup should be ordered from a menu, like at McDonalds, and it should be consistent and predictable, like at McDonalds.

Cons

The health insurance doesn't cover the doctor's visit for when you get pink eye from using the testers. You can't get ahead in the company if you're not a Stepford wife (It's for the best, because you'll still be dependent on your husband. Thank god you're married).

Pros

The pros are the amazing people I work with and the extensive training you receive. It doesn't feel like a job when you get to do something you love.

Cons

Only Cons I have would be the amount of time it took to finally be hired in the system and the anticipation of waiting and wondering if everything is going to work out.
