Pros

Great Products! The people in stores are generally so great and very friendly!

Cons

Unfortunately there is very much a "Mean Girl" culture at Sephora (corporate NOT Stores) If you are willing and prepared to go into that lions den be sure you're eyes are wide open. There is a lot, I mean a lot, of gossip, back bitting and very little camaraderie. It's so sad because you really want this to be a woman empowerment kind of place when it's actually a living embodiment of all the negative stereotypes that follow corporate women around. Some of the leadership don't know and a lot of the leadership simply don't care. Many of the female leaders are in competition with each other so they don't care if other EAs of other execs are getting abused or mistreated.

Pros

Passionate people, dedicated to the success of the company, brands and individuals. The clearest pathways to success I've had at any company with a strong focus on career development. Innovative, open to ideas from ANYONE. Great bonus structure. Plus, it's FUN!

Cons

This specific position was away from the headquarter office in San Francisco which made the connection a bit harder. Depending on the department, promotions and financial increases can be very slow.

Pros

Interesting day-to-day work; fast paced, never boring. Sephora generally hires talented people.

Cons

Failure to live up to publicly stated corporate values of Work Life Balance and Respect for All. Meeting-intense culture (all day back-to-backs). Minimal diversity within many large departments. HR and others openly joked about “the one male” in the room on several occasions, resulting in an uncomfortable environment. Multiple instances of senior marketing leadership engaging in retaliation for those perceived to make the individual look bad. Unwillingness to paint a true, complete picture of business results – leadership is focused on “marketing the marketing”, while omitting or minimizing any unfavorable results. Bullying behaviors that are reported to HR – and widely acknowledge by the VP community – are allowed to continue, contributing to an overall toxic environment. Surprisingly poor maternity leave policy. Huge exodus of talent in the past year.
