Pros

The majority of people in the company are very smart and amazing people and are willing to help you. Some people will also ruin your life and take away your livelihood if it means it will make them look better and will help them get ahead. But honestly you can’t even really blame them because nobody has the time to help anyone since the majority of people are overworked (and that ultimately comes from above and overall corporate greed of squeezing as much out of your employees as you can and not caring about work life balance and that people actually would like to have a sliver of a life outside of work) so don’t be afraid to ask for help, the people that care about others will find the time to help when they can and are genuine in wanting to help you succeed. Great Benefits: -401k + match - Health - Dental -Vision - Summer Fridays (Memorial Day - Labor Day) - 2 days a week in office (could be more during market which is around March and August) - WFH all of July - Two shutdown weeks a year in July and December (July optional, Dec Mandatory and will be deducted from your PTO). - Free product box once a year - Free product at fun brand events (events happen quite frequently) - Networking with brands - Free Product/Gifts from brands - 30% Discount on Sephora Products, 40% off on Sephora Collection - Career Classes to help you succeed (Excel, Public Speaking, Negotiation, People Managing and more) - Access to LVMH sales (like Dior, Celine, Zenith, and Guerlain). - Sephora Festival

Cons

If I see another review of the same nature (toxic, mean girl culture, back stabbing, whispering, people crying, unrealistic expectations, no work life balance, concern for mental health etc.) I might have to report this company to the EEOC or whoever I have to to make this stop. It’s not okay. Someone is eventually going to sue and name names. We are all humans, and let’s treat each other as such. As a warning the HR department will always side with the manager, they are not there to help you, they are there to cover the company’s butt. This company is causing mental illness in otherwise healthy people who have never had mental illness in the past. I’ve known about 5+ people in the past few years that have left due to stress related issues and I’m sure there are plenty more than that, who I am not even aware of.

Toxic workplace

Pros

Free beauty products and employee discount

Cons

Sephora has a toxic work culture. People don't bother working in teams but spend time scheming against once another. Promotions and bonuses are not based on merit but on who you suck up to. There's no career progression and no one in senior management is concerned about the growth of the junior or mid level employees. During the merger, there was so much politics going on, with senior management plotting against one another to get promoted. I guess that encouraged the rest of the company to behave in a similar manner. Things are messy and there's no vision on how to grow the company. When the merger happened, Sephora did not provide any enablers to aid the process. Many of the employees were lost and overworked. Turnover is so high in this company because everyone's morale is so low.

Pros

Regular basic income. Will hire anybody

Cons

Mandatory overtime. Nearly no days off during blackout season (November 1 to January). Layoffs after blackout season. Get points for calling out (Even if you have doctors note). No real advancement. Unprofessional work environment. Last resort job.
