Pros

The employee discount is nice They give very thorough training. They offer incentives to encourage more credit applications. They are pretty fair in distributing hours among employees.

Cons

The pay is bad compared to other retail places. As a cashier they stress staying in the cashier area at all times. This can drive you crazy because it is literally just a box. You can't even walk around and help clean up dressing rooms and straighten up the clothes during cashier down time.

Pros

fun environment, flexible, great benefits, vaction pay and 401k and all very nice

Cons

pay could be better, scheduling is an issue lots of times, long hours especially during the holiday season, staying open until 11 or midnite before christmas is asking a lot of your employees. Inernal theft is an issue and i believe is at all stores. They need to get a handle on that. Training is organized by people who have never worked the job before so that isnt very good. Customers main reason for coming in is because they can "charge it", it has nothing to do with customer service...which it should.

Pros

Sears offers great flexibility for students going to college. They also offered some continuing education with regards to the retail industry for those of you who would want to pursue a career in retail. The best reason to work for Sears is learning from the customers that come into the hardware department. Customers, meaning the contractors, will talk about some of the current jobs they are doing and why they need that tool to do it. Overall, craftmans still makes a decent product as there aren't too many returns for the goods.

Cons

It had a corporate like structure and promotion seemed rather limited. I felt I could do better than to work at Sears Holdings. It just doesn't have long term potential is all but did cover the bills.
