Pros

Schedule is flexible and commission is good. Sears offers career opportunities in several fields and is not just a retail entity. Sears is a very stable company and has done a good job of riding difficult economic conditions. With investment in new equiptment and software, associates are well equipted to make money for themselves and the company. Sears is constantly using associates feedback to change everyday processes and with the support of a good management and training team agents are having great sucess. No one likes the work telemarketing however because of established relationships with customers this is not an sore point for sears agents.

no 401k and SHC needs to invest more money into its` stores

Pros

It is a good place to get started and you can be hired even without much work experience.

Cons

The long hours are one of the biggest downsides, but many retail stores have similiar hours. One of the worst things was probably if you are a commissioned sales person and do not make your quota you are paid at the training pay which is minimum wage. Also you could get a disciplinary action against you if that continues for more than a month or so.

Rationale of decision-making is often not transparent. One needs to be adaptable and not overly invested on a particular course of action because another stakeholder could arrange for a different solution.
