Pros

Flexible around school schedule, can usually take time off as long as you tell management ahead of time.

Cons

Horrible disctount, management is very ignorant of policies and rules, which is detrimental to a large company's future success and the success of it's employees. I've recently found a new job, gave Sears two months notice, and I am already catching a lot of mess from management. I would only recommend this to someone who has hit hard times and needs a paycheck or two while still looking for a job. Not a friendly company, unless you're buying something from them.

Friendly casual work environment. Meet people from many diverse background. compensation is fair with rest of industry. Central location make it easy to get to.

Cons

Offices are generally dark. Not a lot of windows. Lack of space and crowded. Information systems are old and slow.

Pros

SHC has lots of opportunities for long-term business improvement. If the company can turn the tide of its long-term negative trend, the associates who are still with the company at that time could ride the wave -- bonuses as well as marketing your person brands.

Cons

Despite a structural shift in early 2008, many decisions still start at the top and work their way down. Unfortunately not all senior executives have the know-how to make as many decisions as they do. Also, the company has taken a short-sighted approach in managing its talent pool in the downturn that began in 2007/2008.
