Pros

Nothing I can currently say about this company is Pro. Constantly walking on egg shells with possibility of layoffs. Constant restructuring/reporting hierarchy.

Cons

- No 401k Matching - If you make over $115k P/Y you lose your Dependent Care Account; 401k Contributions are capped at 2%; No Flexible Work Schedule; No corporate Phone policy (BYOD), Lots of "office politics", Benefits have rose 20% YOY for the last 2 years; Employee discount changed to Points Back. Very solo'ed Business Units.

Easy Work for Low Pay

Pros

I worked at Sears for 3 years as a part-time cashier while I was in school. I enjoyed the job because I made some great life-long friends. I was lucky to work at a Sears that wasnt too bent on selling credit cards. The work environment was pretty chill. Schedules were flexible and I never had a problem getting days off.

Cons

The only people that received a raise had been working there for 6+ years (or were promoted to lead). Everyone else only earned minimum wage. At times, I worked something like 39.95 hours per week while still being considered a part-time employee without any benefits or overtime pay. I saw management promise other employees a promotion to lead positions so that they would take on management duties but they never received a promotion. I also saw Sears fire a cashier that had been working there for 30+ years and was planning to retire in a couple months over something very petty (she used her sister's Shop Your Way rewards card). I definitely dont recommend Sears for anyone trying to "work their way up" and make a career out of it.

Pros

Still a company with a solid reputation for standing behind their products. I felt comfortable offering the products we had.

Cons

Sears is caring less and less about their commissioned employees and this will be the death of the company. There is becoming no reason to work for this dying company anymore.
