Pros

Sears has a long rich history. It is a bad time for the company and anyone who works there, but we all hope that Sears will get through this.

Cons

The online business unit is a nightmare combination of the worst things about a startup, lack of discipline from management; and large corporation, political powerplays. The result is low morale throughout the organization - it is quite amazing how widespread the unhappiness is through every department. In this environment, the phrase "thrown under the bus" is said A LOT. Those who are good at doing that, thrive. There are too many reasons why Sears is a bad place to work. If you have self respect and pride in work, avoid Sears.

Pros

commissions, staying up with product lines, keeping the Kenmore name strong and upfront.

Cons

lack of upper management understanding importance of customer treatment. Also lack of upper management listening to sales force ideas to improve sales. Lack of control over installation area, delivery and sales issues. More concerned with meeting metrics than maintaining customer base or improving it. Run by a management at the top that was not retail oriented especially the owner, therefore loosing ground to its competitors. Eventually lack of sales led to bankruptcy. Here was a 105 year old company that was successful and loved and trusted by the public, turned into a metrics oriented machine which didn't understand public needs, wants, or competition. Sold off its best divisions like Allstate, Discover, Dean Witter, Craftsman, to inflate the companys price and used the money on stupid investments. The others were the backbone that brought people into the store and made Sears tick.

Pros

Sears uses some of the best equipment to repair appliances. Their appliance warranty is highly recommended for coverage of replacements

Cons

Don’t give you much time in between calls to get from one job to the next. Your expected to give only a certain amount of time with each customer before moving on to the next. Between service calls and travel time, you are also suppose to do training modules on the computer and have them done in a certain amount of time or else a reprimand.
