Pros

Colleagues are friendly. Seeing and having an impact of aeroplanes operations is a real passion of mine and I got to experience that.

Cons

Broken promises(contract signed to be a dispatcher but never touched dispatch until I left the company even after I attended the course) Horrible management in almost every department. (Management will suck up to every airlines' wishes and demands and push it down to the graded staff. No support from management even if suggestions were made to improve work implementations or a mistake was made by an employee accidentally.) Bad staff discount (As an airport pass holder you are entitled to only 10% discount on retail, food etc. Which is really ridiculous considering the staff do their utmost best to make changi airport the world's most efficient airport) No career progression at all.

Pros

* Work-life balance, but it is not encouraged and your reporting officer may penalise you for wanting this (like mine did).

Cons

* Reporting officers are given all the say in the annual / semi-annual appraisal exercise. They can write whatever they wish. There is no feedback given about performance and supervisors do not display any leadership or provide guidance. My appraisal session took place after the bonus was already given and I had to request for a discussion. I have seen my supervisor behave unprofessionally (including screaming, shouting, making personal remarks) with my colleagues on numerous occasions. My reporting officer's sense of insecurity prevented my career development in SATS. * The human capital (HC) department in SATS is in cahoots with such managers. Despite constant turnover and previous feedback, they never took an interest in my department. In fact, when I raised an issue over the unprofessional behaviour of my manager, I was told that he/she has a personality that doesn't like to be challenged.
