Pros

- Learned A LOT about what it means to be a manager - Small bank so I was able to know everyone that worked within the same district as me - DIVERSE employees. Loved having co-workers of different backgrounds - Easily able to move up. - Plenty of banking knowledge given - Extremely talented people work there. You will find life friends and inspiration people (in branches).

Cons

- There were times I was not able to have LUNCH BREAK (which is against the law btw) because the turnover rate in my district was HORRIBLE. Even though they have "float staff" that go around helping branches, NO ONE came to help. I had to contact HR in order to FINALLY have the float manager send someone to my branch so I could take a break after having told him I needed someone! - When I worked under short-staffed conditions and had to maintain the teller line all by myself with no break when the manager was on PTO (I was second in command so when the manager is on PTO, I'm the manager), I got sick and had to call out the next day. The District Executive ended up reprimanding me for calling out! MAYBE if you cared about your employees and send adequate help, I wouldn't have gotten sick from being overworked and NOT GETTING A LUNCH BREAK! - If you run out of Paid Time Off (PTO), you cannot even call out sick. Having to call out sick should not be something that can be held against an employee. Especially if you have a doctors note. - The medical benefits are a joke. - The way HR handles severe situations is a joke, they only care about covering the company. -My pay for all the work I did was 100% not enough. I was GROSSLY underpaid! -NO work-life balance. NONE.

Pros

Unfortunately, I had a very miserable experience at Santander in New York. They are quite effective recruiters, but once you are in, you realize you have been lied to and most of the 'facts' you were told are simply untrue. A very frustrating place to work at, with very hierarchical management that simply won't listen (many of them Spanish expats who are here for a couple of years and then leave), and a very "old school" approach to everything. Very resistant to any type of change, technology or suggestion for improvement.

Cons

Salaries (base) are low. But they promise very high bonuses that unfortunately are never achieved even if one (as in my case) exceeds sales and revenue goals by 50%! Again, a culture of lies and excuses. Extremely old fashioned place where managers will literally yell and scream at every little chance they get. I was truly miserable at this place.

Pros

PTO, Freedom within the role and OMEGA Training.

Cons

1. Every single program the company uses is out dated, difficult to figure out and will increase the amount of work you have to do. You will have to self teach how to do things and once you learn it still won't make any sense. Document process is just as frustrating and out dated. 2. When you originally learn the goals for the position you will find them doable. And for some they are. If you do well you can earn a decent amount in incentive. However, the company is all over the place with where they will tell you to focus. If you've come from another institution you will be frustrated with the way things happen here. The only positives have nothing to do with the role itself. I wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone. Talk to someone who works there not just for this position but for any. I interacted with a ton of different positions that didn't share anything positive.
