Poor Exit Experience

Pros

Generally the company is a good stop gap for the CV or job to pay the bills, but is not for long term or development. Not many people actually like their job or colleagues

Cons

I worked here for 5-10 years in a central support role, I left 3 months ago to do an identical job for a competitor paying 25% more. Nobody asked me the actual reason I was leaving or for feedback; I was not offered an exit interview/survey. My manager took my resignation extremely poorly and excluded and belittled me, leaving a sour taste after so long in the business, after speaking to the next line Manager, it was clearly not going to be addressed. I didn't feel like there was any incentive to stay or anybody valued what I did. I'd repeatedly asked for development and progression or simply recognition for all of the additional responsibility I took on, which is eventually why I left; feeling under valued. I think the business is trying to achieve too much with too little resource; a significant number of management have left.

We’re very sorry that your exit experience was poor. Our leaver surveys are re-launching in the new year to capture feedback from staff who are moving on from Sanctuary. Regarding pay reviews, we are committed to offer pay and terms that are competitive in the market to ensure we can recruit and retain staff that are best able to deliver our services. We regularly test the market via a number of means to achieve this, including staff submitting information to the HR Services team where appropriate. Although we do make staff aware of the option to leave a review on Glassdoor, we do ask for them to give an honest overview of working at Sanctuary, and do not request for the reviews to be positive. We take feedback very seriously and look to improve our approach where possible. Should you wish to discuss your experience confidentially with a member of the HR team, please do get in touch.

We’re very sorry that you feel this way and would encourage you as a current employee to get in touch as soon as possible so that we can discuss with you the concerns you have. There is a network of HR Business Partners or Staff Council representatives across the business who you can speak to confidentially. We also have zero tolerance on bullying, and would advise that you raise this via the Don’t be a Bystander email address which can be found on our intranet.

Negative Culture based on Rules and "who you know"!

Pros

Some excellent IT systems if you can all that a pro

Cons

One of the worst places I've ever had the misfortune to end up working at! The wool was well and truly pulled over my eyes at interview here. Unfortunately, the negative bullying culture here stems from the top down. I found Group Directors were in post not because of their ability or experience, but simply because they were on a graduate scheme and someone higher up took a shine to them. Quite frightening really that these people were left in charge of running departments! If your face fits, you will have the pick of any job you want. If not, you may as well quit while your ahead. Head Office is run like a mausoleum. You quickly realise there is no point in breaking "the rules" as they watch you like a hawk. Swipe in and out of every door and only allowed 3 hot drinks a day! What is that all about? The Facilities team run the place like a concentration camp and it's a very negative environment to be in. They are happy to employ people for their skills and then completely ignore them, very frustrating! Sadly, an organisation that is very much stuck in the dark ages and will probably still be treating staff poorly and doing things the same way for many years to come until there is a change from the top down.
