Pros

For college kids, the pay is decent. For those without a college degree, Sam's Club offers great opportunities to work your way up a major corporate ladder - provided you have competent managers, a killer work ethic, and the drive to seek out raises, promotions, and transfers on your own.

Cons

The front end associate position (cashier) went from a simple and fun cash register position to a high-pressure, little reward SALES position. We're forced to push every primary member to upgrade from their $35/40 membership to a $100 membership. We're watched over our shoulders by managers, corrected multiple times daily by multiples supervisors/managers, and expected to shake down every member, every time. Adding insult to injury, if we happen to sell a "Plus" as it's called, we're rewarded with...food. They incentivize us with cookies, chimichangas, and candy bars. It's insulting. On our best weekends, we upgrade 10-15 members, and our regional managers expect 50 from each club...nevermind the fact that our club does far less volume in business than neighboring clubs. I can't stress how horrible this position has become. I'm a college grad working here (for a second time in my life) for extra income and I've never been under this much pressure in any sales role.
