Expect to train new staff, do bank deposits, track sales, be a key holder, be a team lead, work at 5am for stock shifts, know advanced cosmetology information, take on new job titles with more training and expectations (color consultant), work alone without a break, and meet several different unrealistic metrics for just minimum wage. Do not expect to recieve any appreciation, promotion, pay increase, or commission in return.
This company cares solely about sales metrics. It is absurd how many times staff has threats made to their employment by higher-ups. They do not have any regard for their employee's wellbeing. They do not have any interest in taking into consideration any of the criticisms of their unrealistic expectations. They are not interested in offering more than bare minimum wage and hours. They will also not invest any time in solving the internal problems that are nuking employee productivity. You are valued less than a slave.
The toxicity of the work enviroment is brutal. Everyone is pitted against each other and will treat you like a threat. Every single thing you say and do WILL be used against you to create drama or cause you to be punished. There is no way to make connection or make shifts enjoyable. This problem is so bad that texting fellow employees off work hours is strictly prohibited. Management will make no attempt to cease this outside reminding staff to be nice to each other. It is expected that you simply work in complete silence if you do not like the gossiping and drama.
Management is cruel to their employees, and will micromanage and gossip about subordinates and fellow managers. The DM watches the cameras regularly to find reasons to punish staff. My store manager frequently made staff cry from how she treated them. You will only be lectured for what you are doing wrong, never praised for what you are doing correctly. Expect to be punished for things you did not do or could not control, and gaslit when you attempt to defend yourself.
Everyone is miserable and the turnover rate is insane. In my time, I have not seen anyone who has been with the company for longer than a year, except the managers. I have regularly heard coworkers say this job makes them want to end their lives. This job caused me to become an alcoholic.
