Great potential held back by fear-based leadership

Pros

Smart, talented work force. Excellent challenges in travel technology. Some groups - typically those that are directly delivering to clients, are dynamic and motivated. Great cafeteria.

Cons

Fear-based leadership. Internal obsession with "optics" and the perception that a project is always awash in a green and go to go status, until it suddenly isn't and then the person who raises risk is challenged to prove it. Extremely uneven expectations, evaluations and abilities especially among mid-senior leadership. Heavy reliance on poor communication methods (email threads). Managers are counseled that one method to handle difficult or awkward emails is by simply not responding.

Pros

401K match is okay and the volunteer week each year is nice.

Cons

Where to start? All good ideas get lost in tiers on tiers on tiers of middle management. Upper management is completely removed from rest of employees and operates like an old boys' club. The office is in the middle of nowhere.

Not what it used to be, which can be good and bad

Pros

Sabre presents a very dynamic environment; it is always challenging and there are constant opportunities to learn new things (although it can sometimes be too much change too quickly).

Cons

Definitely not the same since Sam Gilliland left. Too much executive level turnover. Recent direction too focused on cost-cutting just to achieve numbers. Work-life balance is a thing of the past with the new "do more with less" approach. Too little training available to achieve assigned goals.
