Pros

You can travel all over the world, work with different cultures, get paid plenty of money, gain experience very quickly. A good place to get your foot in the door in the oil industry but don't stay too long or the door will close behind you.

Cons

You are overworked and overstressed. Internationals are on a 6-day per week contract, and the phone never stops ringing. You have to make your boss happy and the client happy at all times which can be conflicting at times. The industry in some ways looks down on service companies as a second tier job.

Pros

Very good work-life balance, hybrid working with flexible hours. Little to no micro-management depending on your functions/departments. Managers are mostly understanding and collaborative. Company likes to promote from within. Good place to retire from.

Cons

In shared service, expect your tasks to be mostly on a transactional basis. This means very little insight to the actual business of the company. Your work will be very specialized and the volume will be huge, but that also means you will have restricted authority over the process, you rely mostly the approval of others. It has been 3 YEARS SINCE THE LAST ANNUAL INCREMENT. Since recovering from covid, company has been cutting budgets for employees' benefits yearly. The biggest reason for most of my colleagues who left or planning to leaeve the company is that there has been many years since the last annual increment (Your salary stays the same for 3 years if you didn't get promoted to a higher or different role). Goes without saying, the spend on employees' benefits/engagement have been reducing since I joined 4 years ago.
