Not what it used to be

Pros

Nice campus. Some departments still have a 35-hour work week. Some of the on-campus perks and services are nice.

Cons

The "best place to work" stuff has become more spin than anything. Terrible, short-sighted management. The company has started adopting some of the worst trends in management and HR policies. It's ugly. SSOD is especially bad.

Pros

Gym, pool, cafeteria (partially subsidized), and benefits are all very good. Nice company owned hotel on beautifully manicured campus maintained at a very high level.

Cons

Do not believe what you hear about how great this place is to work if you are in sales. Its great if you are in HR, Accounting, etc. but sales does not run like a normal organization because they are privately held and are completely inbred. Sales morale is decreasing beginning with the inside sales group who was recently kicked off campus. They are in a decreasing revenue mode and also are in the process of releasing a new architecture for the platform which means they have to support 2 tool frameworks which is very difficult to articulate. Customers will be reluctant to adopt this which will cause a continued spiraling shrinkage of the company.

Pros

Most departments have a very realistic attitude about work vs. life. Medical, gym, pool, cafeterias all available on a beautifully manicured campus decorated with sculpture. Everyone has a private office and there is an ergonomics department that will go to great lengths to make sure your body is comfortable. Vacation is average, pay is average.

Cons

There is no real career path. Skillsets can be very odd. Older employees (20+ yr veterans) are routinely pushed out of the company due to lack of current skills. Newer hires come in with more current programming skills. There is no scenario in which you would be rewarded for extraordinary effort, or for that matter fired for being a slacker. Most immediate managers are excellent, middle managers are average, upper management is clueless.
