Pros

Cutting edge technology applied to product Customers are global Interactions with customers are always varied The product is custom engineered so each contract is different, There is always an opportunity to interact with customers and solve unique engineering problems

Cons

Even though the Mount Vernon product is not used for aviation, the decisions made by the culture tend to be conservative, risk averse and err on the side of safety. Other companies in the aero-derivative equipment market have significantly leaner cost structures and better market share.

Pros

people are generally good to work with, lots of opportunity to learn across a wide range of disciplines if there is ambition to do so

Cons

Process-driven to the point where administrative tasks are the bulk of engineering jobs. Very poor decision making by senior management, as well as being "out of touch". Extreme amounts of politics between departments and management.
