Pros

The work is really interesting, the people are really bright and you get to work for a world renown organization. Benefits and salary hover around market averages and job training is good.

Cons

Expect significant push-back on new or innovative ideas. The business is highly conservative, risk adverse and process orientated which makes them resistant to change. Senior management tend to secure their roles through experience rather than skill. There is a significant amount of bureaucracy and political positioning due to slow career growth. Be prepared to drown in red tape.

Pros

Good, bright people working on large scale projects. Decent work life balance. Many people have worked at the company for decades and have grown up together, so you find great people who care about each other. I found that when customers had issues, the company genuinely focused on finding the right answer, not just the easiest answer for themselves.

Cons

Can be bureaucratic and opportunities for advancement are limited outside of the UK. At least in Aerospace, Derby is the center of the Universe. The company is sometimes a bit fumbling in its responses to issues.

Pros

Lots of smart people work at RR. It USED to be a great place to work.

Cons

They recently took away a week of paid holidays, retirement healthcare benefits, and implemented a forced distribution. Pay is well below industry average. HR is outsourced, and the little bit that is left treats people like they are 10 years old. The company has record sales, profits, and orders; meanwhile the CEO gets a 29% pay raise but the management bonus doesn't pay in full.
