Pros

- Varied Work -Good holiday -Looked after well -Leadership is friendly (At least mostly). No "dictators". -Good office culture - Friendly, people willing to do things out of work, world cup sweepstakes etc. -Well organised placements (I am a Manufacturing Apprentice). Good variation of work between placements.

Cons

-Can be a high workload -Busy traffic out in the afternoon if leaving after 4 -One of many employees so can be difficult to get noticed or recognition for work -Everything needs so many signatures/paperwork, you will spend half of your time chasing other people up to do things for you! (As an Engineer anyway) -As an apprentice I do not get a work mobile phone and have no landline due to not having my own desk, meaning I have to use personal phone. Sometime get call in personal time and it's not great having to make calls to suppliers using my personal number.

Pros

I had the opportunity to do a placement for two weeks in Germany which I really enjoyed. The management have approved my sponsorship for a foundation degree to broaden my career. I like the idea of flexi-time. I appreciate work backing me with my hospital visits as I am on a 10 year watch.

Cons

Where ever I have worked the attitude seems to be reactive and not proactive which then creates unnecessary stress. Sometimes it takes too long to get a decision/answer off someone. Some of the jobs feel like administration rather than engineering.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, and if you fit into the culture the sky is the limit for advancement opportunities.

Cons

Although I support apprenticeship programs, Rolls-Royce uses it to "grow it's own." by that I mean that if you join RR and have worked for other organisations, you will have a hard time adjusting to their culture. In addition they have an order book I don't think they know how to produce. If you don't fit the culture, you will be bullied, and aggressively undermined, and forced out.
