Pros

Meet some great people while working there, management isn't too bad. Always overtime available if you want to make some extra money.

Cons

Sometimes the store feels under staffed during peak times (holiday time or sales etc).

Pros

Discount was previously 30% but it has recently been increased to 40% which is a good perk. Offered a pension scheme.

Cons

Management is appealing. They are rude and vile, they regularly shout at staff on the shop floor which is not only highly unprofessional but also horrible for the member of staff. I was reduced to tears on the shop floor by two managers and then made to continue to work, visibly upset and was also forced to go and apologise to my manager in front of customers whilst upset when I hadn't done anything wrong in the first instance. Management are also clueless and seem incapable of counting money, paying staff right or generally having an clue about how to run a good shop. Customer service is not the priority, staff are told to tick yes for customers to receive marketing and share their details even without their permission which is frankly illegal. Managers also have no idea about customer service, we are told to treat everyone like a shoplifter and if i was spoken to as managers speak to customers I would never shop at River Island again, even as an employee I would never shop there due to the appalling treatment of staff and customers. It is impossible to swap a shift and managers will make it as difficult as possible for you to swap a shift due to other commitments - I needed to go to a university open day and it was made incredibly stressful and the blame placed on me for not swapping my shift when I had told managers and asked if they could help me, which they didn't do until the day before and then proceeded to blame it all on me because they are absolutely clueless about running a shop. I also never received a contract of employment, i alerted my managers two months ago and several times following this and I am still yet to receive it.

Pros

Excellent discount and Benefits. As its so busy and theres so much to get done you always have something to do. I work with some really nice, hardworking people.

Cons

Some really hard working people are overlooked very easily. The pressures of trying to get so much done with little staff is really hard. No incentives for doing well.
