Pros

Money and meeting some respectful customer

Cons

worst customer service no support from managers and always blamed instead of being listened to loads or micro managing dealing with difficult customer that lack common sense getting told to do unsafe repairs even though you don't feel safe with to save cost on towing and other services customers getting rude to patrol because the office have promised them repairs or tows that you then get blamed for doing expected to do more then what was told during joining they have no respect for there staff they go on about health and safety but expect you to do repairs that are shocking and is more safe recovering working for RAC is like working for OXFAM for car owners

Pros

Given van & tools. No commute.

Cons

Pay is about the same as in a garage only you will be working on motorways at 9pm on a Sunday. Main competitor AA are paid a significant amount more than RAC patrols. Management seem to think the fact that we can work overtime to earn more justifies low pay. Dangerous job working on fast roads. Large amount of the patrol force are fed up of management not listening, makes for a depressing work environment. Very difficult to get time off approved. The shockingly poor service means that we will attend people that have been waiting hours at roadside (sometimes in dangerous locations) and get abused or complained at by the member. In the van on your own can get boring/lonely. Not offering as much overtime as they used to so struggle to earn more money. Any change to the process of how we work is not communicated they will make up a new process without telling us and expect us to know how it works. When a patrol is given a job the information provided is often very poor or wrong. No balance between work and social life, constantly working a block of days and given a single rest day to come back and do another block of days.
