Pros

No commute no tool spend. Fuel is paid for

Cons

Long shifts. Near impossible to get any time off. Constantly moved areas or having shifts moved. Forced to refer mobile mechanic jobs and management meeting if you don’t hit the required 8 per month. Upper management accepted 25% pay rise for themselfs. But think it’s acceptable to only offer roadside 2.5%. After they removed 2 big bonuses last year right after the pay deal. No the same job I started 10years ago. Roadside are treated like slaves

Pros

*Money can be good if willing to do overtime. *No working nights (up to midnight latest finish) *Get given your whole years rota so you can plan around it *Tools provided van goes home with you so no commute *Working solo means no one tells you what to do and you ultimately decide how to deal with jobs and situations. *Pay rises every year so far, normally only small percentages and one off payments but still more than you'd ever get working in a garage/dealer *easily achievable bonuses and overtime is normally plentiful unlike garage/dealer *Good paid sick leave *Uniform provided and replaced when needed *Most customers really appreciate you and it's the only time in the job you ever get appreciated and told how good a job your doing and how important your work and skills set is.

Cons

*Basic salary isn't that good for the unsociable hours worked weekends bank holidays etc (expect to work around half the weekends in the year) *You work alone rarely meet colleagues no sense of teamwork/leadership which results in low moral most other patrols are very negative to talk to and just stay in the job for an easy life. *No real career progression, even if you go into management you won't progress up the ladder and will instead be used as a puppet by those more senior, the company often does a reshuffle of management structure meaning less job security in management than as patrol. *Holiday leave requests can often be rejected regardless of how essential the reason for leave is. Weddings family events/holidays they don't care if computer says no they will happily reject it. (this is a big negative almost all patrols always point out and complain about) *3 weeks of your holiday entitlement has to be given a year in advance to be built into your rota. *The company pretends to care about feedback but nothing ever changes and no effort is ever made by the company for team building. *Only one training day a year which can sometimes be canceled if busy *Poor leave over xmas and kids holidays, your guaranteed xmas day off and that's it and if you want to apply for more leave over xmas it's like a lucky dip if you get the leave, kids term times are busy periods so holiday leave is often rejected.
