Pros

Great autonomy within the team Really open communication between colleagues and management Very approachable people Okay pay and potential for good bonuses Friendly and competent colleagues on the whole Challenging and varied work Lots of room to personally develop skills and abilities which are very transferable and lead to more opportunities Lots of room to step up and take ownership of tasks or cases, again great for CV/experience Management truly listens to feedback about everything from ways of working to communication to how products are designed, meaning you can have a real impact on a business with millions of customers - experience you wouldn't get elsewhere Lots of social events (albeit not company paid) within team Christmas meal contribution by the company Stock granted to employees so will get a payout if the company is sold Average amounts of holiday Paid breaks through the day for tea/a snack, 30 mins per day for full time workers Free fruits and snacks in the office sometimes Great canteen Only 2 office days per week once trained, plenty of work from home Flexible working requests fairly considered Management have actually increased our pay before after reviewing the benchmarking, which was really nice

Cons

Phone calls from certain types of client can be challenging - though management have your back if you need a break or to end a call Work can be complex compared to similar roles at other businesses - though this is excellent for development Work loads can feel a lot at busy times, even when we're well within our deadlines things can easily slip There can be changes that come down from on high that the team and manager can do little about, but these are few and far between usually Some training materials are lacking and training can feel like too much of one method but not enough of another Company could be more generous with things like Christmas meals, team or department events, etc Recruitment internally rarely highlighted - have to go looking yourself if you want to seek out other opportunities internally Lots of emphasis on business about the main work (recoveries) meaning there's little appreciation for other work functions, and other work can be stopped for a time if there's an emergency in the breakdown team.

Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review, it means a lot to hear that this is the best role you’ve had. We’re really pleased on all the positives you've listed out here - creating an environment where people can take ownership, build transferable skills, and genuinely influence how we work is something we actively strive for, so it’s great to see this recognised. We also appreciate your balanced and honest reflections on the challenges. Calls with complex cases and demanding customers, busy periods, and evolving priorities can all be part of working in a business of this scale. It’s reassuring to hear that you feel supported when those moments arise, and your comments around training, recognition of wider contributions, and internal visibility of opportunities are all valuable as we continue to improve. Thank you again for taking the time to share both the positives and areas to keep working on, feedback like this genuinely helps shape how we grow and do better for our people.

Thank you for your review and for recommending RAC. We’re pleased to hear you’ve had a positive experience with the training provided, as well as the support around travel, accommodation, and allowances - these are important parts of helping our patrol colleagues feel set up and supported. We’re sorry to hear that communication during the process didn’t always feel as clear as it should have, particularly around vehicle arrangements. We’d really welcome the opportunity to understand this better, so please feel free to reach out to our recruitment team directly to talk it through. We’re always looking to improve, and strong communication is a huge part of that. Thank you again for sharing your experience, feedback like this genuinely helps us make things better for future colleagues.

Thank you for your review and for recommending RAC. It’s great to hear you’ve had a positive training experience and are feeling excited to get out on the road - that’s exactly what we want for new patrol colleagues. We understand that the background checks can feel time‑consuming and involve sharing a lot of information. These checks are in place to help keep both our members and our colleagues safe, and they’re an important part of the responsibility that comes with the role. We do our best to make the process as clear and smooth as possible, and we keep it under review to see where improvements can be made. Thank you again for your patience and for taking the time to share your experience - we’re glad to have you onboard.
