Pros

There's free drinks on a friday, and even then you can't have too much fun because god forbid you'd enjoy yourself after a week of hell whilst not being paid.

Cons

As mentioned, you're not paid a penny if you choose to stay in the 'luxury' apartments which are full of bedbugs and unwashed bedding. You are NOT guaranteed a job. The recruiters have a pitch they have to abide by, most of which is a lie. If you decide you don't like the job, you'll be charged £12,000. This isn't negotiable. They've charged people who've had to leave due to family deaths for god sakes. You don't get to pay it back in instalments either (another lie you are told). Ask the recruitment manager all these taboo questions and be sure to record it. Even if you get through training - chances are they wont have a client for you so you'll sit on the bench (this is where you sit at home on £650 a month which is essentially illegal) until they find you a job. During this time you can't look for another job or you'll be charged £12,000. The best way to judge a company is how they treat their permanent staff. Well, when the senior recruiter stinks of alcohol and is falling asleep at the desk with NO regard for the graduates or their futures - what does that tell you? There is NO progression. Graduates can (and often will be) on the £23.5k starting salary for the whole 2 years. If you have skills in coding you are very valuable to the industry. TRUST ME. You can and will get a job somewhere that will value you, pay you well and progress you the way you deserve. QA Consulting will do none of this.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you feel so negatively about the business – the fact you feel this way shows we have let you down along the line and we are determined to fix this. Some of the points that you have made in this review are common to one of other recent reviews on this site. We are aware that we had a number of issues that were negatively affecting our consultant community. The internal investigation we launched following the feedback we received from Glassdoor has meant we have been able to identify key issues and put actions in place to address them. You will see Stuart (Managing Director of QA Consulting division)’s response to other reviews, and in these he runs through some of the findings and specific action points he has taken to address issues. I hope you feel assured that your feedback has been heard and I am just so sorry that these issues were not identified and addressed in time to ensure your time with QA was a good and positive one. If you wanted to speak through any of the points in your review then you can call or email Stuart or myself directly (mary.sansom@qa.com or stuart.martin@qa.com)

Pros

You don't need any Computer Science experience to be an IT Consultant for QA, they'll hire anyone!

Cons

You can be relocated anywhere in the country at short notice Your pay rises are not related to performance, so even if you take extra work and responsibilities you get paid same as those who just do the bare minimum. Your training may or may not be related or usefult in your work You will be trainined on basics of programming, even if you have a masters in CS and it's obviously a waste of time You will be asked to pay £12,000 if you decide to leave in the first 2 years You will be told you wil be a Software Developer, use Big Data, AWS etc. but end up doing IT Support work most of the time

I appreciate you taking the time to write this review. It is clear that I have an issue that I am determined to sort so that no one else feels so negatively about the QA business. Some of the specific points you have raised in this review indicate to me that our communication to you has been poor. Your expectations have not been properly set around the role you have signed up for and there is nothing more disappointing or upsetting than having your expectations not met. You are right about the possible need to relocate with our roles, the level-related pay and the £12k cost if you leave before 2 years – all of these things are elements that we should have made very very clear to you at the start and they are detailed in the contract. The role isnt for everyone, but we find that for most of our graduates the model really works because they get a first step on the career ladder, 1st class training in niche technology stacks that employers really want and the opportunity to apply these new skills on interesting and exciting client projects in some of the leading businesses across the UK. However, if you weren’t aware of these elements beforehand then I can see why it would concern you. Your review indicates that you still work for QA, as such I really urge you to get in touch with me directly on some of the points you have made. I want to ensure that the issues you highlighted in this review are resolved. You can reach me on stuart.martin@qa.com
