Unrealistic expectations of lab staff. There's only so many of us and we can't work all day and night, but Sr Mgmt seems to think that if they just ignore the problem, it'll all go away. Like I said above, they finally bumped our pay because a bunch of lab associates quit at once. Makes you wonder why it was suddenly doable...
Another review mentioned outdated systems. A few months ago, someone accidentally moved a folder. It broke everything for about a week so we could barely get any work done. The LIMS system is so old and slow that more time is spent waiting on it than actually using it. I've overheard others talk about how a new LIMS has been in the works for over 10 years. There's a whole team dedicated to a new LIMS but no consequences for missed deadlines there. There never seems to be any consequences for any other groups - whereas the lab gets to hear about our failures every time there's a meeting about financials and how we missed revenue targets.
People have been leaving. Not just in the lab, but all depts, even Sr Mgmt. Many of us are also questioning the decisions that have been made recently regarding the changes to Sr Mgmt. It's definitely made us very concerned and many of us are looking elsewhere - we don't want to go down with this sinking ship.
