Pros

Easy to get suckered in . If you die as a mechanic pep boys life insurance pays a year of min wage.

Cons

Hard to get out, really you will work yourself broke here and might have to sell your box of tools or ditch them because you will not afford to rent a truck and move them. Terrible management. Do not I repeat do not supply your tools they will get stolen and left around the shop. Plus this company is required to pay you 20 an hour as a mechanic if you supply tools. They argue that they supply tools one set for 6-8 mechanics, yet it will also be missing all the tools. These unholy crooks steal from customers who are uneducated and steal you soul as a mechanic.

Pros

They keep you busy... really busy. Doing your job and the jobs of the incompetent people that they hire purely because they have warm blood and a pulse and will occasionally respond to stimuli.

Cons

They make you work more hours and pay you less. This is for most positions but is especially true for their service employees, mainly the managers and technicians. If you are an exempt employee do not expect to have a life out side of Pep Boys because they will suck the life, fun and happiness right out of you.

Pros

Paid ASE training, easy to advance, simple computer system to learn. Those are the only things that might make pep boys a good place to work for.

Cons

Long hours 55+a week, low pay across all levels, constant upper management changes, always open on holidays, poorly trained staff, computers outdated, computer system hardly works, all shop equipment is old and barely hanging on, company does not care if a customer yells at you
