Pros

Corp Office- Laid back, business casual dress code, mostly friendly people. Top management tells you what is going on in quarterly meetings. Some employee recognition in quarterly meetings and letters to the company are read. Benefits are OK. Some management has an "open door" policy where you can feel OK to ask questions/advice. No real penalties for being late. There is a gym in the corporate office.

Cons

Favoritism runs rampant at Pep Boys. Work gets pushed down to the staff and management doesn't pay attention or just don't care that this goes on. At times this can be frustrating knowing that the supervisors get paid almost double your salary. The company is pretty disorganized and lacks good communication between different departments. Computers are slow which makes it hard to get your job done. It seems like the same employees always are staying late (Some due to being overworked and some just prefer not to go home.) High turnover, recent layoffs, almost got bought out but the acquiring company backed out last minute. Low pay.

Pros

They were kind enough to offer me a job, when I needed it. Worked my way up ranks over the years, then without warning they decided to give my job to someone else.

Cons

Horrible working conditions. Upper management is not organized and or focused on the real issues. They also expect you to work open to close, seven days a week to make ridiculous sales goals. Worse part is that they dont even say thanks, when you do work crazy hours and sacrifice family and personal health.

Pros

Decent pay on average Paid vacation and "OK" benefits

Cons

Long hours! Open everyday but Christmas and Thanksgiving. Lots of red tape. Process's change almost weekly making it hard to keep up. Lots of work and no payroll. Entry level employees are paid very low and you get what you pay for. To many chiefs and not enough Indians, you follow not only your direct supervisors rules but the other 25 people who work above you in various positions in and outside the store. There is no consistency, They do not promote from within past the store management level.
