A magical place to work that has so much potential to be better
Pros
-You meet so many amazing talented people trying to break into the industry and form lifelong friendships. -Working on the lot is surreal, as it's such a beautiful place with so much history. -Sometimes there's screenings on the lot so you can watch free movies with your friends. -It truly is a fun place to work, but mostly due to the coworkers. -The annual Christmas party.
Cons
-The pay is inconsistent. Management wants you to give them full availability in your schedule even if you only end up getting 2 shifts a week. It's not realistic, especially in an expensive city like LA. In the summer, the hours pick up and you can anticipate 40 hours a week, but you never know how long that will last. As a part time job, that is not acceptable to ask for someone to have complete availability. -The work will burn you out quickly. The repetition of saying the same thing on a tour every day takes a toll and you start to resent it. -The program is branded as a two year stint that will equip you with the tools and will guarantee you a job after the program ends. This isn't the case. You will most likely find another job by networking with fellow pages and/or other employees on the lot.
