Pros

Large company with a very good reputation. Worked on some high profile jobs and many of the people were great to work with.

Cons

Work / life balance is out the window. Start off with low wage and their excuse is employees can take advantage of the share program. Share program is good, but they seem to forget the employee has to buy the shares to begin with so doesnt become beneficial for a few years, meanwhile you are in major debt. Claim to want to best, most experienced people but quickly lay-off the long term employees when things slow down to keep the lower wage new employees. District manager ran the office like his own little boys club....if you weren't a part of his club then you were treated like crap.

Pros

The job has decent pay, employees can purchase shares. Typical benefits are included, w/paid vacation granted you are on salary.

Cons

Upper management pays you for 40 hours a week, but you are EXPECTED to work overtime everyday. If you leave at 3:30, expect to hear about it. Why should I have to make an excuse to leave after 8 hours? 11-12 hour days are common. Work starts early, ends late. Be prepared to have NO LIFE. Weekend work is not compensated. If you work in the field, be prepared for long commutes as job locations change with projects. The work environment is too militaristic. Expect superiors to talk down to you. No initial training, they will put you on a project and expect results. Poor screening processes by HR in the hiring phase as the employee tasks within the company are not specified, thus leading to incompatibilities between worker skills/expectations and the actual job.

Pros

If you have a family they’re really understanding about your schedule flexibility but if you don’t have a family, they expect more of you. Not great for work-life balance or hours. But they’re more progressive when it comes to the construction industry - females in the field, more diverse hires, but less qualified applicants. Good for a long term career if you buy into their shares program but you won’t make a size-able profit until the 7th year.

Cons

The Denver district is one of the worst but the further you get from it, the better the company culture gets. 55 hours is the minimum they expect you to work but legally they won’t let you record more that 40. There’s no overtime pay, they pay you on the lower end of the pay scale and expect you to “pay dues.” If you stick around for poor treatment for about 5 years you’ll gain enough clout to have upper management’s respect.
