Pros

The employee discount is pretty good, especially if you shop at Gap or Banana Republic. My managers are, for the most part, pretty friendly & fun-loving. Some of the employess are also nice. I went from "recovering" all day to always being a "primary" cashier, which is pretty refreshing.

Cons

It's very frustrating having to deal with the amount of new employees that are hired constantly. I don't even recognize a good deal of the people I work with anymore. Because of this ridiculous amount of new people, a lot of more experienced workers are getting their hours cut. Also, it is definitely a "learn-as-you-go" type of training. Trainees are not well-informed of the dress code, or store policies, which leads to a lot of mix-ups & mistakes. For example, I was never told certain actions that have to be done while being on the register. I've been there since January, and I'm just now being told about them. ONC's are pushed way too hard. I have the common sense of stopping whenever a customer says "No thank you," but when I got my job performance rubric back, I was told that I hear "No," it's really, "Know," as in, push the benefits until they change their mind. I do well for myself in selling them (politely), and I've noticed that the management treats me differently from what they did. One of my managers used to be really snobby towards me, but now she kisses my butt. I do work a ridiculous amount, though, compared to my peers. I don't know if it's because of the ONC's or the fact that the customers frequently tell my managers I'm doing a good job, but I definitely sense favoritism, which is not something I approve of. Also, if you do well in something, the managers will write it down in a book, but they won't tell you that you're doing a good job. You have to sneak glances at their manager books that they leave wide open at the register to see if you're doing something right. I would avoid making close friends with anyone you work with there. There's a ton of gossip going around, even from some of the managers, who like to put certain employees down. Talk pleansantly with your peers, but don't tell them personal information. It will save you heartache in the future.

Pros

- Fairly fun atmosphere - Employees are treated with respect and courtesy - It generally is a place where the employer tries to make the experience of both the employee and the customer as pleasant as possible.

Cons

oftentimes customers will make the place completely disorganized and then complain about how messy the store looks. while i can certainly understand the fact that no one likes a messy store, it is far easier to make the store a mess than to clean everything up and make the store look presentable.

Pros

The discount is okay, and you can use it at all Gap. Inc stores.

Cons

Management does not care about their employees. You are only spoken to about the negatives, they use and abuse you. Pay is not equal to your worth.
