Pros

Well, honestly, I LOVED working at old navy. I worked there for about a year and a half. The management team was awesome. I became friends with most of them and I felt like they all tried their best to accommodate their employees requests(when reasonable). I believe a great management team is key to creating a work environment that is not only tolerable (especially in retail) but really fun and a place where employees are actually happy to work and help customers.

Cons

Unfortunately this environment was wrecked when we got a new store manager. Half the management team who had been there for years before I even started left within six months of her starting. The rest left shortly after I also quit. From what I hear now, three of the replacement managers have also quit. If you didn't kiss butt you would get between 0-7 hours a week with measly 3-4 hour shifts. It was great while it lasted but unfortunately I could't survive off of $60 checks when I was accustomed to $400 checks.

Pros

Big company with great support. The people are awesome and want to do a great job. Everyone is smart and driven and it pushed you to do your best work and learn tons!!!! World class sourcing team and you learn a lot of strategy and higher level things even as you work your way up the organization.

Cons

Leadership within Old Navy is very focuses on being #1 and people development is being put aside. You are seeing less and less leaders that really care about their teams and that work to nurture them to greatness. Process at times comes before common business sense and as you are working to drive your depts it can easily get in the way. WAY TOO POLITICAL!!!!! there should be a balance in managing up and doing your job but at Old Navy you spend more than 50% of your time managing up which distracts you from your job.

Pros

Get more hours than average PT employees Employee discount for all GAP branches was good

Cons

Working FT hours on PT pay and NO benefits Management had no respect for lower employees often bad mouthing other employees in front of others Was misled in interview when told I would rarely work 5am shifts. Turned out I had 5am shifts at least 2x a week and 3-4x during peak season. Very disorganized structure and no real interest in employees
