Pros

If you are entirely unambitious, you can make a decent living here. The pay is decent for the area, and as long as you do nothing, you won't receive any harassment from the safety police.

Cons

If you have the audacity to attempt to do actual work, not only will you be chastised by the entirely useless hourly union staff, you will be bombarded by the salaried safety police. The safety culture is ridiculously hypocritical. No one follows the policies, and most people can't agree on what the policies actually are. I have yet to meet an employee here, union or salaried, who I would consider to be a hardworker. I wouldn't hire any of them. Their work ethic is evident in the condition of the plant. Their excuse, "it's 40 years old". The condition of the plant suggests absolute neglect rather than general wear and tear.

Safety is Nutrien’s top core value and is foundational to everything we do. This is more than a statement for us, it is a belief. Therefore, it’s unfortunate to hear that your experience in this area has not been a good one. With the recent combination of two large organizations, we continue to work to harmonize legacy policies. This work is ongoing but is nearing completion. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review.

Pros

The pay was pretty decent

Cons

Once the “merger” became final, everything was a complete cluster. Nobody knew anything about benefits, bonuses, salaries, etc. the employees were kept in the dark about everything while Still expected to go about their jobs. Distractions cause accidents. Safety became a catch phrase instead of a core value. As long as the leadership that is currently there stays, avoid this company.

Pros

market pay rate and competitive benefits.

Cons

It used to be a great place to work until 2015. The CEO of this company was new to Agrium and I think the CEO does not have right vision and honestly lacks “patience” as lots of his decision seems to be out of his gut feelings, I think he has been over his head by becoming CEO. Lots of good employee left. The line managers on my site were so afraid to the point that they wouldn’t hire DCS and E&I technicians for months ( worst cost saving strategy). Vice President and middle managers actually created a boys club and were buddies and were really scared to ask any money from president wholesale. I had heard from one of my previous colleagues that one of the plant manager was let go because of alcohol abuse at work (too much stress and lack of direction from executives and the CEO)
