Pros

The Nielsen company is a great place for someone to start their career right out of college. You can gain an immense amount of knowledge about the consumer package goods industry that is applicable to many different companies and industries.

Cons

Unfortunately, Nielsen was purchased by a private equity firm whose only goals are to suck every dime of cost out of the company. They have used the poor economic environment as an excuse to further reduce benefits and compensation and outsourced a large number of jobs. As a fellow associate always says, they are penny wise and pound foolish. They have reduced staffing levels and allowed the infrastructure to degrade to a critical and dangerous point.

Pros

They don't care where you work and whether you show up to the office

Cons

Pretty much everything else. - VERY VERY HIGH turnaround. There is no loyalty in this company. Your entire team could be sold off or laid off at anytime. I've seen it countless times. It's a very transactional business and anyone could stab you in the back. - Everyone is underpaid compared to industry standard. For the same position/title/job, you'll at least get 20% more elsewhere. Have seen 50% in some cases. - Everything has a policy. Bureaucratic environment. HR deals with BS rather than actual important stuff. Worst HR ever dealt with in my career. - Hiring is highly questionable. Have seen a lot off aholes getting hired. Bullying others is a common thing. The more you bully, the more you go up the rank. - Most VPs and SVPs are just sticking with the status quo. They are just clocking in and out. Don't expect to learn from them or for them to change things around.

Pros

My coworkers are the only good thing about this place.

Cons

If you aren’t In a certain department they don’t care about you. There is no accountability for certain departments, while others take the blame for everything. Everyone worked hard last year, and one department is getting a bonus. That department is the one that spends the majority of their shift socializing with each other and watching Netflix on their computers. Yet management refuses to notice.
